《美国牧歌》是菲利普·罗斯的晚年代表作,该小说讲述了以利沃夫家族为代表的犹太移民从大萧条到20世纪末追寻美国梦的历程。在犹太传统文化与美国本土文化存在冲突时,如何在异质文化中建构适合自己的新的文化身份成为美国犹太人面临的一大难题。本文试图通过分析《美国牧歌》中利沃夫家族的身份危机与身份建构困境,探讨美国犹太移民在身份重构中的出路和对策,提出构建基于族裔平等与自由整合的多元族裔文化身份的观点。
The American Pastoral is a late-generation masterpiece by Philip Rose, which tells of the journey of Jewish immigrants represented by the Lviv family from the Great Depression until the end of the 20th century. When the Jewish traditional culture conflicts with the native American culture, how to construct a new cultural identity suitable for oneself in the heterogeneous culture has become a major challenge for American Jews.
