2008年6月20日,在《人民日报》创刊60周年之际,中共中央总书记胡锦涛亲临人民日报社考察工作并发表重要讲话。2009年6月22日,人民日报社隆重召开座谈会,深入学习贯彻胡锦涛总书记在人民日报社考察工作时的重要讲话。人民日报社社长张研农及6位代表在会上发言。发言指出,人民日报社正面临改革发展的难得机遇,要坚持把胡锦涛总书记的重要讲话作为搞好新闻宣传的根本遵循,作为加强报社建设的根本指针,作为推动事业发展的根本要求,把人民日报建成让党放心、让人民满意的国际一流媒体。要以《人民日报》扩版增容为契机,在“三贴近”和办出特色上下功夫,进一步提高舆论引导能力和国内国际传播能力。
On June 20, 2008, on the 60th anniversary of the founding of People’s Daily, Hu Jintao, general secretary of the CPC Central Committee, paid a visit to People’s Daily and made an important speech. On June 22, 2009, the People’s Daily solemnly held a forum to thoroughly study and implement General Secretary Hu Jintao’s important speech at the inspection conducted by the People’s Daily. Zhang Yannong, chairman of People’s Daily, and six representatives made speeches at the meeting. The speech pointed out: People’s Daily is facing a rare opportunity of reform and development. We must persevere in using General Secretary Hu Jintao’s important speech as the fundamental follow-up to improving press and publicity, as a fundamental guideline for strengthening the newspaper building and as a fundamental requirement for promoting the development of the cause. The daily newspaper has built an international first-class media that reassures the party and makes people satisfied. It is necessary to take the opportunity of expanding the coverage of People’s Daily and increasing its capabilities in guiding the ability of public opinion and the dissemination of domestic and international communications with the principle of “three closerness” and carrying out its own characteristics.
