Since the founding of the Communist Party of China （CPC） 100 years ago， the CPC has been engaged in international exchanges.
The CPC’s international exchanges over the past century has changed with the Party’s focus throughout different historical periods.
Since the 18th CPC National Congress took place in 2012， the Party’s international engagement has been executed via in-depth exchanges with various foreign counterparts， building a global network of political parties and facilitating the creation of a community with a shared future for humanity.
International exchanges help the CPC expand its circle of friends. An increasing number of foreign political parties， from both developing and developed countries， are willing to engage in inter-party talks with the CPC. As China’s international status grows， more and more foreign parties， including those from Western developed countries， have realized that without understanding the status and role of the CPC， they cannot fully grasp the fundamental reasons for China’s rapid economic and social development.
A review of the CPC’s international exchanges over the past century is of significance in three aspects. First， it helps explain the external challenges and opportunities China has faced to make the Party’s work more forwardlooking and seek opportunities amid crises. Second， it helps the Party unite all forces possible to establish a sound external environment for China’s economic and social development. Third， it helps enhance exchange and mutual learning among civilizations and cooperation with other countries to realize mutual development.
Across a century of upheavals and triumphs， the CPC has evolved into the largest political party in the world. As a new century dawns， the CPC must carry forward its tradition and further the innovation in its foreign-related work， so as to better serve national rejuvenation and promote the overall progress of humanity.
