从黑格尔直至当下的近两百年间,宣告文学艺术死亡的声音不绝于耳。但细察这些艺术终结论,并没有一家表达的是真正意义上的艺术消亡,与其说是对艺术前途的悲观绝望,毋宁理解为艺术观念因现实语境的转型而对艺术前景抱持的一种审慎乐观态度。为不望文生义地在中国学界引致更多饱含情绪化、表态式的哀叹或庆贺之论,实有必要准确地名之以“艺术的终结——转型论”。
