The “Four Saints and One Drama” is a masterpiece recently completed by the author Yan Yanchi. Taking the history before and after the “Cultural Revolution” as the background, this essay describes the interpersonal experience of personality, realm, thought, destiny and dissimilarity but also “scholar” between the four historical figures. The four scholar respectively are: Chen Boda, Kang Sheng, Zhou Yang and Hu Zhaheng, Tianjin Mayor before the Cultural Revolution. Hu Zhaoyuan wrote many novels in the 1930s. When the mayor of Tianjin wrote his clichés under the pseudonym “Li Xin,” it was comparable to “Yanshan Night Talk” written by Deng Tuo in Beijing. Between 1964 and 1965, Hu Zhaoheng and Chen Boda had the most contacts, followed by Zhou Yang and Kang Sheng again. At that time, dozens of conversations between Chen Boda and Hu Zhaoheng, “party theorists” all “centered around the industrial and agricultural production.” They almost forgot the “class struggle as the key link.” He kept telling his heart disease: “The greatest ability is the administrative capacity, but unfortunately it has not been given play.” Kang Sheng focuses on “recuperating, collecting cultural relics, drawing pictures and engaging in class struggle.” Zhou Yang’s speech is most and most concerned about the “two cultures” - the intellectualization of labor, the knowledge of the working masses and the “two lines” - one line of the “Leftist” period, and another 17 lines of literature and art after the founding of the People’s Republic. On November 10, 1965, with Yao Wenyuan commenting on the publication of the “Hai Rui dismissed from office,” history unleashed a ruthless curtain - a “sutra drama” that could arouse the enlightenment of future generations. With the consent of Comrade Quan Yanchi, this special edition is the last one taken by the “Four Sages and One Drama” to readers.
