The first modern Olympic Games was held on April 6, 1896 in Athens, the birthplace of the Olympic Games. It coincided with the National Day of Greece. There were 311 players from 13 countries in the world participating in this grand occasion. The first Olympic champion was the American James Connolly, who won the men’s triple jump at 13.71 meters on the opening day of the first Olympic Games. The first woman’s Olympic champion was Charlotte Cooper of the United Kingdom, a women’s singles and a mixed doubles champion who won the tennis tournament at the Second Olympic Games in 1900. There are 11 women players first appeared in this Olympic Games arena. The first woman Olympic track and field champion for the United States Elizabeth Robinson, she won the women’s 100 meters runner-up in the 12th second 2 results at the 9th Olympic Games in 1928.
