什刹海街道位于北京市西城区东北部风景优美的什刹海地区,辖区面积5.8平方公里,设有25个社区居委会。现有户籍人口46284户,121675人,其中常住人口31378户82468人,流动人口25850人。据什刹海街道办事处主任毕军东介绍:“什刹海地区的突出特点是七多:一、二类大街多;中央首长驻地、名人故居多;部队机关多;中央单位多;文物古迹、旅游景点多;老旧城区街巷胡同平房院落多;‘七小门店’多。”辖区共有生产经营单位2632家,其中,餐饮单位495家,旅馆86家,人员密集场所34家,汽修18家,危化品1家,其他1998家。毕军东介绍
