1905年,科举制遭到废除,知识分子的自我身份认同出现了重大危机。国家正值风雨飘摇,知识分子不得不另谋出路。加入政党,投身革命,是不少知识分子认为最可取的救世办法。无名氏的《野兽·野兽·野兽》,就叙述了一群年轻知识分子加入左翼阵营、投身革命的故事。然而,这些知识分子最后却与左翼阵营分道扬镳。这部小说道出自由主义知识分子与左翼文艺阵营的矛盾,并对新时代知识分子的形象作出了深刻的反思。
In 1905, the abolition of the imperial examination system, intellectual self-identity emerged a major crisis. As the country is precarious, the intellectuals have to find another way out. To join a political party and join the revolution is what many intellectuals consider the most desirable salvation. Anonymous “Beasts, Beasts and Beasts,” narrates a group of young intellectuals joining the left-wing camp and joining the revolution story. However, these intellectuals eventually parted ways with the left wing. This novel shows the contradiction between the liberal intellectuals and the leftist literary camp and makes a profound reflection on the image of the intellectuals in the new era.
