膨胀珍珠岩及其制品具有容重小、导热系数低、化学稳定性好、防火、防射线、保温、隔热、使用温度范围广(-253℃～1000℃)、吸湿性小、无毒、无味、吸音等性能,是一种轻质、高效、多功能的新型节能材料。它是由酸性火山玻璃质熔岩(即珍珠岩),经过破碎、预热、焙烧而制成。生产膨胀珍珠岩的原料是珍珠岩,我国珍珠岩矿藏极为丰富,已发现的矿就分布在辽宁等13个省区,这些矿藏资源为发展我国珍珠岩工业创造了有利条件。
