雅长林区地跨百色地区乐业、田林两县4乡17个村,由区直国营雅长林场经营管理,经营面积6.3万公顷,有林面积3.7万公顷。长期以来,雅长林区森林火灾比较严重,自建场至80年代末,年均森林火灾受害率41‰。1989年,森林火灾受害率达123.65‰,林火面积占全广西的56%,特大火灾次数占全国的66.7%,重大火灾次数占全国的23.5%。雅长林区严重的森林火灾引起了各级领导的重视,也惊醒了林区广大干部群众,通过综合治理,森林防火取得了显著成绩。1990年,把森林火灾受害率降到3.26‰,完成了自治区下达的4‰的控制目标。1991年上半年,战胜了严重的冬春干旱的威胁,全林区仅发生一般火灾4起,火警2起,森林火灾受害
