主从复合句的主句和从句在意义和结构上构成一个整体,它同其它语言单位一样,除语调之外,都具有一定的内容和形式.也就是语法意义和结构。复合句的语法意义各不相同,这种差别和它们结构的不同有联系。按意义来确定复台句的类型要以结构为依据。主从复合句中主、从句之间的主要联系手段是主从连接词、关联词和指示词。在确定主从复合句类型时要着重考虑它的联系手段。在某些情况下,改变句中的连接词或关联词,句子的语法意义也随之改变.从而可以改变主从复合句的类型。如:
