In the course of reform and opening up, Beijing Municipality pays attention to using market as a link and based on mutual benefit and reciprocity, developing a new type of urban and rural economy and initially forming a urban-rural development pattern in which urban and rural areas work together and coexist and prosper. According to statistics, in the recent two years, the scale of Beijing’s urban-rural integration has been constantly expanding and growing rapidly. So far, the number of urban-rural cooperatives in Beijing has reached 3,360, an increase of 150 over the end of 1991 and the vast majority are the backbone enterprises in the suburbs of Beijing.
