抗日战争时期是中国共产党正确认识宗教问题和开展宗教工作的重要阶段,具有重要的历史地位。主要表现在:一是推动了抗日战争的胜利进程,即扩大了抗日民族统一战线,巩固了抗日民主根据地,揭露了日本侵略者利用宗教侵华反共的阴谋;二是丰富了党的宗教工作经验,即提高了宗教理论水平,完善了宗教政策,积累了行之有效的工作方法;三是为以后党的宗教工作的开展提供了借鉴,即探索了抗日民主根据地局部执政条件下的新民主主义的宗教工作思路,明确了宗教工作涉及党执政的思想基础和群众基础,积极引导了宗教与新民主主义革命相适应,积极探索了建设新国家、新社会雏形中的宗教工作方向,对今天建设中国特色社会主义、构建社会主义和谐社会中的宗教工作仍有借鉴意义。
