(五)岁月的流水,渐渐浸蚀了尘心。武帝暮年,勘破红尘,转入佛门,成为中国历史上绝无仅有的“和尚皇帝”。他下令在宫城附近修建同泰寺,寺内莲花步云,殿宇巍峨,晚钟梵音回荡;又令于宫城另辟大门,与同泰寺隔门相望,说是与佛心贯通,了无挂碍。普通八年(527年)三月,为了表示对佛祖的耿耿忠心,武帝第一次舍身入寺,做了三天住持和尚,并下令改元大通。从此,他禁绝女色与荤腥,并下诏全国,祭祀宗庙神灵,一律不许再用牛羊猪等牲灵,只能用蔬菜水果。让神灵跟着自己一起茹素吃斋,堪称天下奇闻也!
