近一年多来,广东各大报纸相继报道了在该省揭西和丰顺两县发现第四纪冰川作用形成的冰臼群,其形成年代为200～300万年前,北京有些刊物也刊载了相同内容的文章。这是震撼全国地学界的大事,为了考证这一重大发现,笔者一行沿着丰顺县龙鲸河和揭西县石肚溪发现“冰臼”的河段进行实地考察。经多日深入观察与调查,我们发现所谓的“冰臼”实为石质床上常见的壶穴,它是近、现代河流作用的产物。
In the past year and more, major newspapers in Guangdong successively reported the group of pendulum mortar formed by the discovery of the Quaternary glaciation in the two counties of Jiexi and Fengshun in the province. In order to verify this major discovery, the author conducted a field investigation along the banks of the Long whale River in Fengshun County and the discovery of the “ice mortar” in Shixu River in Jiexi County. After many days of in-depth observation and investigation, we found that the so-called “ice mortar” is actually a typical pot hole on a stony bed, which is a product of the action of modern rivers.
