在贯彻农业八字宪法的基础上,配合使用赤霉素,可以促进苎麻的生长。试验结果表明,赤霉素应用在生长20天的幼苗上,能够迅速促进植株茎部的生长,增加产量。茎部生长的促进作用,并不是由于节间数目的增加,主要是由于茎部各节间有不同程度的伸长,相应也增加了各节间干物质的积累。赤霉素处理苎麻植株,在水肥不足的情况下,会引起叶片生长瘦弱,降低叶子的鲜重并呈现缺绿现象,叶绿素含量下降,但配合水肥等条件,增施氮肥,可以促进叶片的生长及叶绿素的合成,并增加叶片中纤维素及蛋白质的含量。赤霉素处理,能够防止苎麻的早花,减少开花及结实,而且种子的千粒重及发芽率都较对照下降,因此就能保证茎部有充足的营养,促进营养生长,有利于茎部纤维的合成,尤其在短日照下使用赤霉素,较在长日照下使用效果更明显。通过实验室的测定,证明以赤霉素处理苎麻,可以增进纤维的支数、聚合度及拉力,同时纤维细胞厚度的增加,远远不及纤维细胞长度的增加明显。
