1976年5月美国土壤保持协会召开了一次全国性的土壤侵蚀会议。这个会议讨论的范围较广,但贯彻一个中心内容是“通用土壤流失方程式”的运用。这个方程式可谓相当简单,然而十分重要的是它把土壤侵蚀过程定量化了。方程式的运用既可预测某地某时的侵蚀量,也可反向应用,从事先确定的容许侵蚀量而设计合适的保土措施。这个方程式在美国得到普遍应用,也引用于一些国家,对解决水土流失问题有显著作用,受到各国的重视。关于这次大会的主要内容由美国土壤保持协会汇编成集,我国农业出版社1981年以《土壤侵蚀预报与控制》一书出版,来介绍这次会议的主要论文和通用方程在各地应用的内容;从这本文集中使人感到这个通用方程式有很大优点,适应面很广,计算起来又异常简便。但方程式的各个因素
May 1976 American Soil Conservation Association held a national soil erosion conference.
