Recently held in China’s rural areas diabetes prevention and control forum released news of the prevalence of diabetes in rural areas in China in the past 8 years, an increase of 6.6%, rising faster than urban areas. Diabetes prevention and control in rural areas has become the focus of prevention and control of chronic diseases in China. The relevant person in charge of China CDC Chronic Disease Center introduced at the forum. In 2002, the prevalence of diabetes mellitus in adults was 2.69% in China and 9.7% in 2010, while the rate of awareness and control of diabetes was 36.1% and 34.7% respectively, reflecting High prevalence of diabetes in our country, the status of low-level control.
