在智利第四行政区,距塔瓜塔瓜的维森特约七公里的一个叫做古奇普伊 (Cuchipuy)的地方,发现了距今八千年的人类骨骼。在这个地区一个面积很大的墓地中发掘出的二百块人骨,分别属于五千至八千年前的不同历史时期。这些骨骼中有一具完整的骨架,经放射碳14鉴定,确定距今已有八千零七十年,是迄今为止在智利发现的最古老的骨架。已被命名为“古奇普伊人”。挖掘是从1978年开始的。当时一农场主修路时发现了一个头盖骨,当即交给了智利大学的考古学家。后来在那里进行了发掘,发现了一个广阔的墓地,还发现了矛、骨制装饰品、陶器和兽骨等。
In the fourth district of Chile, a place called Cuchipuy, about seven kilometers from Vicente in Tagiguagua, human skeletons dating back eight thousand years have been discovered. Two hundred human bones excavated from a large graveyard in the area belong to different historical periods of 5,000 to 8,000 years ago. The bones have a complete skeleton, identified by radiocarbon 14, dating back to 807 years, the oldest skeleton found in Chile so far. Has been named “Gucci”. Excavation began in 1978. At that time a farmer discovered a skull during the road building and immediately handed over to the University of Chile archeologists. Later there was excavation, found a vast cemetery, also found spears, bone ornaments, pottery and animal bones and so on.
