在現代戰争條件下,由於武器的精度和威力不斷提高,部隊在戰場上的生存能力受到嚴重威脅,為提高戰場生存力,需要採用隱蔽偽裝、分散配置、多點備用、地空機動和工程防護相結合的綜合性措施。其中,保證工事具有足够的强度仍然是系列措施中的基礎。各國軍隊都非常重視提高工事强度,不斷推出新的加强措施。目前廣泛使用的工事加强方法主要有兩方面,第一是通過改進結構形式、材料與構件聯結來提高支撑結構的强度,第二是通過合適的防護層提高整個工事的强度。
