Objective To study the difference between the characteristics of six trace elements in serum of normal pregnant women and healthy women without pregnancy. Methods The elbow venous blood samples from normal pregnant women and unhealthy pregnant women were collected respectively and the serum samples were collected after centrifugation and analyzed by plasma emission spectrometer. Results The levels of serum iron, zinc, copper, selenium, chromium and cobalt in normal pregnant women were significantly higher than those in healthy pregnant women. The contents of serum iron, zinc, selenium, chromium and cobalt were all lower in the former. Conclusion The reduction of elements in normal pregnant women should be given scientific supplements; the increase of copper should be reasonably reduced so that various elements of the body up to a reasonable ratio.
