In the face of the real predicament of Northern Ireland, the poet Seymour Sinny has been trying to find a multi-treatment of society, morality and art in his poetry, what he calls “the remedy of poetry.” This remedy does not directly intervene in the unfairness of the present. Instead, it is a poetic remedy that balances unbalanced social forces in the linguistic form of poetry and overcomes the gravity of power to attract and reshape the reality and spiritual order. Whether in the face of realistic suffering or in the poetic language predicament, the healing of such poems is often achieved through the simplest routine work. The hard work of the poet and the cultivation of the ancestors on the land are poetic remedies to the suffering. Throughout the unspeakable work of life and death and communication of generations, the poet has surpassed the ultimate pain of death, placed the existential suffering under the grace of his poetry, and comforted the requiem in the poem.
