松花石又名松花玉,产于中国东北长白山区,是数亿年前海相运动过程中海底的淤积细泥,经过沉积、覆盖、压制等物理过程形成的坚硬的沉积型微晶石灰岩。其基本的矿物质成分是方解石、石英、云母、黏土以及少量的金属矿物质等。松花石无毒、无味、无辐射,色泽丰富,质地细腻,矿藏稀少,既能用以雕刻实用和观赏砚台,还可用作名贵的建筑装饰及工艺品用料,在民间更是盛传可做镇宅之宝。
Songhua stone, also known as Songhua jade, was produced in Changbai Mountain area in northeastern China. It is a silt sediment-type microcrystalline limestone formed by sedimentation, covering, and pressing physical processes of sedimentation in the seafloor during the marine movement hundreds of millions of years ago. The basic mineral composition is calcite, quartz, mica, clay and a small amount of metal minerals. Songhua non-toxic, tasteless, non-radiation, rich color, delicate texture, rare mineral resources, both for carving practical and ornamental ink stone, can also be used as precious architectural decoration and handicrafts materials, is even rumored to be folk House of treasure.
