在中国近代殖民侵略和外侮逼迫的国运形势中,19世纪末期开始逐渐产生了各种民族拯救意识,其中,音乐作为唤起民族觉醒的精神力量与同时期的社会思潮并重,在辛亥革命前后的几十年中、近代新文化运动兴起前后的时代语境里呈现出独特抖擞的气节面貌,为民族斗争励志和拯救意识的产生和强化起到了推波助澜的作用。这期间兴起的民族音乐观、对音乐教育形式的探索以及归属该时代的各类音乐研究成果均成为中国近代新音乐行进路向和发展历程的先导,对于近代音乐史来说,这几十年虽然只处在整个中国音乐变革历程的起始位置,但却是关注和研究中国近代史整个发展过程不可缺省的视角和组成部分。(第一段)
