Objective To study the value of EEG in pediatric viral encephalitis and provide reference for clinical diagnosis of viral encephalitis in children. Methods From February 2014 to February 2016, 80 patients diagnosed as pediatric viral encephalitis admitted to our hospital were enrolled in this study. Blood, EEG, cerebrospinal fluid, CT and MRI were examined. According to the examination Methods: The patients were divided into blood routine group, electroencephalogram group, cerebrospinal fluid group, CT group and MRI group. The results of the examination were analyzed and the value of EEG in prognosis evaluation of viral encephalitis in children was observed. Results 80 cases of children with viral encephalitis, including abnormal blood rate was 36.25%, cerebrospinal fluid abnormalities was 38.75%, CT group was 22.87%, MRI group was abnormal rate of 37.50%, EEG abnormalities rate 92.50%, P <0.05, the difference was statistically significant. Among the five kinds of examination methods, among the five examination methods, the abnormal rate of EEG was the highest, reaching 92.50%. The reason of abnormality was mainly diffuse and limited abnormally slow activities . Conclusion EEG plays an important role in the early diagnosis of viral encephalitis in children and is a reference index for its diagnosis. After multiple examinations, the child can diagnose the disease more accurately and diagnose the severity of the disease at the same time, prompting the patient to be better treated.
