明朝宰相张居正,高居相位十余年,值明朝衰败之际,力挽狂澜,号称杰出的政治家、改革家,成就卓著,影响深远。然而,就是这位德高望重、饱学多才的张居正,为帝师却以失败而告终,可以说是历史上最失败的教育者。明朝万历皇帝九岁登基,皇太后经过慎重考虑,把教育小皇帝的重任托付给了张居正。张居正深知责任重大,亲自编写教材为小皇帝授课,他还任命了五名主讲经史的老师,两名书法老师,并设立起居注官,每天记录小皇帝的一言一行,监督其学习情况。
