邓萍,1908年出生于四川省富顺县。1926年底考入武汉中央军事政治学校学习。在校加入中国共产党青年团,不久转入中国共产党,1928年7月,他与彭德怀,滕代远等共同组织、领导了平江起义。起义后部队改编为中国工农红军第5军第13师,邓萍任参谋长、中共红5军军委书记,参加领导创建湘鄂赣苏区。1928年冬,红5军主力到井冈山,参加保卫井冈山革命根据地的斗争。1930年,邓萍出任红3军团参谋长,兼任红5军军长。1934年10月,红一方面军开始长征后,邓萍协助红3军团军团长彭德怀,指挥部队担任右路前卫,掩护中央机关和中央红军主力实施转移。1935年,邓萍在指挥红3军
Deng Ping, born in 1908 in Fushun County, Sichuan Province. In late 1926 admitted to Wuhan Central Military and Political School.
