我区有几千万亩疏残林,我县马尾松疏残林约有二万亩,中龄林亩蓄积量仅2立方米左右,产量甚低,是改造的对象。国营祥周林场在马尾松疏残林地上自1978年5月以来先后套种上窿缘桉(营养杯)荷木(营养杯)3000亩左右(同龄),上山时桉苗高15-20厘米,荷木15厘米左右。有的套种两年后砍掉马尾松,改桉或荷长成纯林或桉、荷混交林;有的保留了马尾松
