黄河是一条多泥沙河流,平均每年输沙量达16亿吨,平均含沙量每立方米35公斤;它是世界著名的“泥河”。这条“泥河”,在历史上下游河道溃决频繁,给人民带来了深重的灾难。建国以来,为了控制黄河泥沙,在它的中上游地区广泛开展水土保持,大量修建大中小型水库、淤地坝、梯田,普遍植树、种草,取得很大成绩;但不能盲目乐观。须知治理黄河,是长期的艰巨任务,决不能掉以轻心。
The Yellow River is a multi-silt river with an average annual sediment transport of 1.6 billion tons and an average sediment concentration of 35 kg per cubic meter; it is the world famous “river of mud.” This “muddy river” has been frequently ruptured in the riverways of history and has brought profound disaster to the people. Since the founding of the People’s Republic of China, great achievements have been made in controlling the Yellow River sediment, extensively implementing soil and water conservation in its middle and upper reaches, and in large-scale reservoirs for large, medium and small sized reservoirs, warping dams and terraces, and planting trees and grasslands in general. However, these measures can not be blindly optimistic. It is a long-term and arduous task to govern the Yellow River and must never be taken lightly.
