人人皆知,母乳的营养价值极高。母乳中所含的各种营养素都是由母亲血液流经乳腺而合成的一种营养全面的乳汁,这样婴儿在头6个月內可以完全不依赖其他食物的供给,而能较好地满足婴儿生长发育的需要。但是人的乳腺也并不能将婴儿所需要的全部营养素都由母亲血液转到乳汁来供给婴儿的生长发育需要,有两种营养素就很不容易通过乳腺进入到乳汁中去,这就是维生素D和铁。所以乳汁中这两种营养素的含量偏低,不能满足婴儿的需要。这是母乳的两项缺陷,因而也就造成嬰儿时期最容易出现的两大营养缺乏病,
