《当我们谈论爱情时我们在谈论什么》是美国短篇小说家雷蒙德·卡佛的代表作,但这本书中的十七个短篇小说在出版前皆遭到了编辑戈登·利什不同程度的删改,为此雷蒙德·卡佛的极简主义之父地位曾一度被质疑。《新手》是《当我们谈论爱情时我们在谈论什么》未经删改的版本,这两个不同版本近年来都先后由译林出版社出版了中文译本。本文试从两本小说集中的同一篇小说的不同版本出发,对《所有东西都粘在了他身上》和其“丰满”版本《距离》进行多角度对比。
“What we’re talking about when we talk about love” is the epitome of American short story writer Raymond Carver, but the seventeen short stories in this book were edited by Gordon Lees to varying degrees The deletion of Raymond Carver’s minimalist father was once questioned. “Novice” is an unedited version of “What are we talking about when we talk about love,” both versions of which have been published by Yilin Press in recent years. Based on the different versions of the same novel from the two novels, this article compares the “distance” between “everything is stuck to him” and its “fullness” version.
