Xing Hutian, a communist and agronomist, has been engaged in plant protection work for thirty-four agricultural stations in the northeast margin of Taklamakan Desert for more than 20 years. He made a significant contribution to the comprehensive management of farmland weeds and cotton pests and diseases in the comprehensive management of the Tarim reclamation area. Due to his outstanding achievements, he has repeatedly been appraised as outstanding party member and advanced science and technology worker. After graduating from Plant Protection College of Beijing Agricultural College in 1962, Xing Hutian volunteered to come to 34 groups of farm field stations in Tarim reclamation area.
