Wu Song is one of the key figures in The Outlaws of the Marsh. The author Shi Naian used a large space to describe this figure. However, “Jin Ping Mei” is no longer the main character of Wu Song, also does not intend to show the true nature of heroes, and the plot is also intended to dilute the magnificent image of Wu Song in the reader’s mind. From “Outlaws of the Marsh” to “Jin Ping Mei”, the same image of Wu Song has a very significant difference. Especially in shaping the characters, there has been a big change. Wu Shui in Water Margin is an ideal hero hero, and Wu Jin in Jin Ping Mei is more like a frivolous exile, rather than a purely idealistic person.
