郭德隆老专家今年已95岁高龄。他是唯一健在的我国第一代防痨学科带头人。早在1942年他在天津朱继圣等社会贤达的支持下,组建了天津公立结核病防治院。他是天津防痨事业的奠基人。1944年郭老联合北平裘祖源、方石珊等医界名宿发起组织成立了平津防痨协会,推动了京津防痨事业的发展。今特约郭老撰写《天津公立结核病防治院和平津防痨协会成立的始末》一文,以誌郭老及其他有关的社会贤达、专家、医务人员的贡献。自1979年以来,郭老率先在国內开始研究吸烟与健康的关系,并赴许多省市作专题学术报告和科普宣传,其功不可没。
