丹江口水利枢纽修建运行后,形成清水下泄,作为冲积型河流的下游河道将失去原有平衡。河流为了适应新的水文情势必重新建立平衡。自丹江口水库运行以来,下游河道的水沙变化,使泥沙运动和河道形态进行了新的调整。由清水下泄而引发的冲刷、下切、崩岸等河流造床活动,导致形成了新的抗冲层和与之相适应的新的河床坡降、过水断面等水力因素,使河槽的挟沙能力减低,以适应急剧减少的上游来沙量,使河道建立起新的平衡。
