与注重零件的经营观相对应的是以产品为中心的经营观,即围绕着产品进行开发、生产控制、市场营销,这是传统的经营观。毫无疑问,在构成制造企业竞争能力的四项基本要素(产品品种、质量、成本、交货期)中,产品是最重要的因素。然而,面对新形势下客户的新需求,以“产品为导向”的经营观念已经显现出种种不适症。不少企业商策者不经“望闻问切”明病因,仅仅把“引进技术、实施计算机集成制造系统(CIMS)、建立自动化仓库”当做“包治百病”的良药,希望企业借此能“起死回生”……
