On July 21, the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee held a meeting to study issues such as deployment of economic work and public health construction. CPC Central Committee General Secretary Hu Jintao presided over the meeting. The meeting pointed out: This year China’s economic and social development has started well. However, the outbreak of the war in Iraq, especially the SARS epidemic in most of the provinces, autonomous regions and municipalities in China, has adversely affected the economic and social development of our country.
