中国收视率概念和实践开始于上世纪80年代。1996年,央视首先使用收视率,从此收视率正式确立了在中国电视领域的地位。面对收视率调查这个巨大的市场,近年来从事收视率调查的机构也开始逐渐增加。最近几年,各台都比较注重收视率的作用,纷纷斥资从统计局、专业的收视率调查公司或市场调查公司购买数据,也使收视率调查业成为目前国内发展最快的行业之一。
