易水石产于河北易水一带,故名。它是我国北方古老的著名砚材,成砚后称易水砚,简称易砚。易水石为紫灰色、蓝灰色的水成岩,偶有绿、黑、灰等色。有的在紫灰色基底上点缀着碧绿色和淡黄色的斑纹或石跟,其中以紫色带绿纹的石品最好,俗称“紫翠”。它质地细腻,色调素雅,光润如玉,质刚而柔,硬度适中。琢磨成砚后有发黑储墨,润笔利毫,保湿耐温宜书宜画的优良性能。优质的易水砚,可与端砚媲美。历史上早就有“南端北易”之说,为历代书画家和收藏家所推崇。
Yishui production in Hebei Yishui area, hence the name. It is an ancient well-known inkstone in the northern part of China.
