8088系列的STD总线结构以8088 CPU为核心而设计的准16位微型机系统,曾作为应用领域的一种主流机型普及于应用领域。目前在信息处理和管理领域,这类微型机逐渐被新一代的286、386或486微型机代替,但8088系列机形成的各种软件系统,如BIOS、MS-DOS、数据库系统、各种高级语言,已深为广大用户接受。即使微型机系列不断升档,这些软件仍保持它的基本结构,向上兼容,并得到功能上的扩展,被新一代微型机系统采用。
