In his keynote speech at CCBN2006, Deputy Director Zhang Hailao explained profoundly the four major tasks related to development of radio and TV science, technology and undertakings during the Eleventh Five-Year Plan period in China. The four major tasks are: (1) Powerfully press ahead with a new round of project of extending broadcasting coverage to every village in light of the need to build a new socialist countryside; (2) Spare no effort to bring forth digitization of radio and TV in light of the need to build an innovation-oriented country; (3) Effectively strengthen building of security system of safe transmission in light of requirements of state information security; and (4) Make great efforts to carry forward balanced development of radio and TV undertakings and industries by taking measures satisfactory to both sides. The speech is published in full for everyone’s study and reference.
