It is not uncommon for CT to find cerebral infarction in the absence of stroke history. However, the incidence and characteristics of asymptomatic cerebral infarction and the prognosis of stroke patients are unknown. The authors conducted a prospective, community-based study on the incidence of asymptomatic cerebral infarction, its association with risk factors, and prognosis. The authors found that 209 of the 375 first-episode patients had cerebral infarcts in patients enrolled in the Sixth Regional Ambra, Central Italy, epidemiological study of cerebrovascular disease. The method was a randomized review of CT, the patients were divided into a single focal lesion group and multifocal lesion group, the latter is assumed to be at least once asymptomatic cerebral infarction, two groups of patients according to risk factors and prognosis were compared, in order to avoid
