2003年、2004年,我在美国、加拿大学习和工作期间,有幸与诺贝尔经济学奖获得者米尔顿·弗里德曼三次见面,并有着一次愉快的谈话。那时他对我说:这些年中国取得了巨大成绩,让人高兴,但中国近几年只知道赚钱,似乎把其他一些更重要的事情给忘了。我说:2003年起中国已将政治文明、发展民主、保护私有财产写进了《宪法》。他说:但愿能很好地坚持并走下去。他的话与当时中国经济快速提升、广受世界赞誉似乎有些不和谐,但细细想来这并不是不友好,恰恰相反,他的点评切中中国发展要害,可谓“远望方觉风浪小,凌空乃知海波平”。
