Kundera’s work has long been known for its profound ideological nature, and he advocates that novelists should “think about a problem” in their works. In his work, the question he is thinking of is the existence of mankind. The article mainly discusses Kundera’s ideological themes embodied in his later works: forgetting and recalling, and the recognition and return associated with it. In Kundera’s view, inevitable memories and absolute forgetfulness are existential situations in which the exiles are hard to get rid of. At the same time, identification and return are again the indefatigable pursuit of the exiles, even though this pursuit is only a heartbreaking dream.
