在我国西南角,有一条缠绕在茫茫热带雨林中的高速公路,它像五彩的飘带一头连着昆明,一头连着东盟的老挝、泰国,并向南亚和更广阔的地方延伸,它就是被誉为现代丝绸之路的昆(明)曼(谷)国际大道。昆曼国际大通道全长1800多公里,中国境内的云南段800多公里。由于山高谷深,沿线坡陡、弯急、桥隧相连,其中,仅隧道就有62座。为了保证隧道的安全和道路的畅通,一支由普洱管理处组建的隧道消防队分布在大风垭口、老苍坡、野象谷、藤篾山和南贡山。哪里有危险,哪里就有他们的身影,哪里出现火情,哪里就是他们的战场。他们抢险、救人、灭火、保护野象、擒盗贼、排危爆、堵泄漏,无时不显示出惊险、刺激、危险与传奇……
