Both Wittgenstein and Quinn disdain metaphysical and epistemological speculations, and they are both energetically criticizing traditional philosophical concepts and theories. But their path to pursuing philosophy after this criticism is different. Wittgenstein equates philosophy with the critique of traditional philosophical thinking, and nothing more. Quine, by reshaping the philosophical problem as a scientific one, tried his best to salvage the philosophy of the past and answered the questions he resurfaced. Contrary to common belief about Wittgenstein and Quinn, I think the philosophical studies they are undertaking are complementary and not incompatible. They are ostensibly antagonistic; in fact, agreeing with one of them does not mean rejecting the other.
