一国建成社会主义是列宁主义本身的思想。斯大林将其进一步系统化，正式提出一国建成社会主义的理论。这一理论及其后来的实践证明：经济文化落后国家的无产阶级经过共产党的领导，不仅能够执掌政权，而且能够建成发达的社会主义社会。适用于中国国情的邓小平理论及其指导下的建设有中国特色社会主义的成功实践，是对一国建成社会主义的理论创新和实践发展。
The building of socialism in a country is the idea of Leninism itself. Stalin further systematized it and formally put forward the theory of building socialism in a country. This theory and its subsequent practice prove that the proletariat in economically and culturally backward countries, under the leadership of the Communist Party, can not only hold the power but also build a developed socialist society. The successful practice of Deng Xiaoping Theory and its construction under the guidance of guiding the construction of socialism with Chinese characteristics, which is applicable to China’s national conditions, is a theoretical innovation and practical development of building a socialist country by one country.
