新中国建立以后,特别是改革开放以来,湖北的新闻出版事业得到了长足发展,焕发出生机与活力,呈现出繁荣发展的良好局面。新闻出版业的规模、数量有了新的发展,出版物整体质量逐步提高,现在已基本形成图书、报纸、期刊、音像、电子出版物门类比较齐全,编辑、印刷、发行、物资供应、外贸、教育、科研、行政管理等各个环节相互配套的比较完整的出版产业体系,成为湖北国民经济中的一个重要产业部门。湖北省被新闻出版署确定为全国六大出版发行中心之一。新闻出版业的繁荣发展,为推动湖北改革开放和现代化建设,提高人民群众的科学文化素质,加强湖北的社会主义精神文明建设,促进科教兴鄂战略的实施发挥了重要作用。
Since the founding of new China, especially since the reform and opening up, Hubei’s press and publication undertakings have made great strides and have given birth to vigor and vitality, showing a good situation of prosperity and development. The size and number of the press and publishing industry have undergone a new development. The overall quality of the publications has been gradually raised. Nowadays, books, newspapers, periodicals, audio-visual and electronic publications have been basically completed. The editorial, printing, distribution, material supply, foreign trade, Education, scientific research, administration and other aspects of each other supporting the relatively complete system of publishing industry, Hubei’s national economy has become an important industrial sector. Hubei Province was identified by the Press and Publication Administration as one of the six major publishing and distribution centers in the country. The prosperous development of the press and publication industry has played an important role in promoting the reform and opening up in Hubei Province and the modernization drive, in enhancing the people’s scientific and cultural qualities, in strengthening the socialist spiritual civilization in Hubei Province and in promoting the implementation of the strategy of revitalizing Hubei through science and education.
