《中国丛报》(Chinese Repository,即《中国文库》)是从一八三二年至一八五一年长达二十年期间由美国人裨治文主编并在广州出版的英文期刊,共二十卷。《中国丛报》现存我国完整的仅有两套,均为合订本。内容以中国的政治,经济、军事、历史、地理、宗教、文化、习俗等为主,并对亚洲各地略作介绍,是研究鸦片战争和中国近代史的重要资料.广东省文史研究馆选译自《中国丛报》的《鸦片战争史料选译》一书已由中华书局于一九八三年出版发行,《鸦片战争与林则徐史料选译》一书现已交广东人民出版社尽早出版发行。为了方便研究鸦片战争和中国近代史的同志查找资料,我们把二十卷每篇文章的“提要”(Article)译出,作为索引,供读者参阅。
The Chinese Repository (“The Chinese Library”) is an English periodical edited by the American Literary Man who edited and published in Guangzhou during the period of 20 years from 1832 to 1851 Ten volumes. There are only two sets of China’s existing newspapers in our country, all of which are bookbases. The content is mainly based on China’s politics, economy, military affairs, history, geography, religion, culture, customs and so on, and it is a brief introduction to various parts of Asia. It is an important material for studying the Opium War and modern Chinese history. The Book of Opium War in China was published by Zhonghua Book Company in 1983, and the Book of Opium War and the Selected Works of Lin Zexu was published as soon as possible by Guangdong People’s Publishing House . In order to facilitate the study of the Opium War and modern Chinese comrades to find information, we have twenty volumes of each article’s “abstract” (Article) translated, as an index, for readers to read.
