A survey released recently by the National Association of Automobile Retailers said more and more consumers in the United States are willing to buy second-hand cars because new cars are expensive and second-hand cars are cost-effective. The survey was conducted among 1,253 Americans who plan to buy a car. Among them, 32% of the respondents chose used cars. The Americans who took the survey said that they are more willing to buy used cars for two main reasons: first is the price factor. In 1997, the average selling price of a new car was 20,200 U.S. dollars, while the average used car price was only 9,000 U.S. dollars.
